In what is the single largest economic stimulus package in Australia’s history, legislation relating to the JobKeeper Payment was passed through the House of Representatives on April 7, 2020.
The JobKeeper Payment is expected to cost $130 billion and will provide assistance to over 500,000 Australian businesses and millions of employees. The JobKeeper payment is open to eligible employers to enable them to pay their eligible employee’s salary or wages of at least $1,500 (before tax) per fortnight.
